History of the Lykoi

The Lykoi, and its unique werewolf features, have been seen for some time as a genetic mutation in black Domestic Shorthair cats as well as felines within the feral population.

In 2010, the Gobble family in Tennessee acquired Lykoi kittens from two unrelated litters. Numerous tests were carried out on the cats to determine whether they had any health problems or diseases. It was discovered that the cats came from a natural mutation and the breeding programme began. In September 2011, the first ever Lykoi to Lykoi breeding cat was born.

In 2015 the first ever Lykoi kitten was born in the UK, to breeder Perviz Alexander.
